Yassine Ouhdadi: the athlete who wants to follow in the footsteps of Hicham El Guerrouj

Yassine Ouhdadi, a Spanish athlete of Moroccan origin, has just won his second gold medal in the 5,000 metres at the Paris Paralympic Games. He is now aiming for gold in the 1,500 m.

Born in Ouarzazate, Morocco, Yassine Ouhdadi is visually impaired. The 30-year-old athlete has total blindness in his left eye and a 14% visual reserve in his right eye. But this disability did not stop him from becoming a Paralympic champion. When he arrived in Tarragona at the age of 6 with his parents and siblings, Yassine wanted to become a footballer. But his vision problems forced him to give up football for athletics at the age of 18.
