Why French tourists have shunned Morocco

The president of the Syndicate of Tour Operating Companies (SETO), René-Marc Chikly, is confident that the number of French tourists arriving will increase in August, after the low number of visitors noted during the month of July.

Unlike the Minister of Tourism and some national operators who attribute the drop in French tourist arrivals in Morocco to the holding of early legislative elections, the European Cup and the Olympic Games, René-Marc Chikly rather mentions the uncertainty of access to Parisian airports (Orly and CDG). “It is the uncertainty about the difficulty of access to airports that has meant that, for the first time in years, except during the Covid period, the month of July has seen such a drop,” he explains to Media24.
