Where have the Moroccan coaches gone?
The current landscape of Botola, the professional football championship in Morocco, is marked by the worrying absence of Moroccan technicians in favor of foreign coaches. A situation that raises concerns.
In total, there are eight foreign coaches at the head of football clubs in Morocco. They come in particular from South Africa, Tunisia, Italy, Portugal and Serbia. This preference of foreign coaches raises questions about the skills of local coaches. Beyond Morocco, Ayoub Koutaya, a consultant specializing in strategic management of football clubs, notes a “sudden” absence of Moroccan coaches and technical executives in foreign championships, particularly in the Maghreb and the Gulf.
