The Rabat Court of Appeal on Friday sentenced to three years in prison an individual accused of having usurped the identity of an official of the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery, in order to defraud personalities .
The affair broke out last May, when the secretary general of the Ministry of Communication filed a complaint against the usurper for “scam” and fraud, reports Al-Akhbar. The accused allegedly contacted him several times, presenting himself as an official in the Royal Cabinet, and asked him for explanations on the suspension of a manager, as well as the promotion of a head of service within the ministerial department. He would also have questioned the manager on the reason for the exclusion of a company incorporated under Canadian law from the list of candidates required to obtain a film production authorization.
