Wheat: Morocco abandons France for Russia
The severe drought that has hit Morocco for more than five years is affecting its agricultural production and forcing it to increase its imports of French and also Russian wheat.
The wheat sector is one of the most affected by the persistent drought which has affected Morocco for almost six years. Rising temperatures and scarcity of rainfall have led to a drastic decline in Moroccan cereal production in recent years. To compensate for this drop, Morocco announced that it would source more wheat from France and Russia.
