Wheat market: Algeria pushes aside France, Morocco in the background
Algeria has decided to exclude French companies from its latest call for tenders forimport of wheat. This decision comes after that of French President Emmanuel Macron to recognize the Moroccan nature of the Sahara.
Last Tuesday, the Algerian Interprofessional Cereals Office (OAIC) launched a call for tenders for the purchase of more than 500,000 tonnes of wheat. Usually, French companies participate in these calls for tenders by offering wheat of various origins. However, this time, they were simply not invited to bid. Worse still, non-French companies have been instructed not to offer French wheat.
