What you need to know about Xi Jinping’s visit to Morocco

Chinese President Xi Jinping made a quick stopover in Morocco after his participation in the last G20 in Brazil. A lightning visit during which he reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening its cooperation with the kingdom.

Welcomed by Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, accompanied by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, Xi Jinping reiterated during this unofficial visit to Morocco China’s wish to strengthen its ties with the kingdom, in particular to “firmly support each other on the issues concerning their respective fundamental interests, and promote greater development of the China-Morocco strategic partnership,” said a statement published by Xinhua, the Chinese news agency.
