Water security in Morocco: the priorities of King Mohammed VI
King Mohammed VI gave new directions for solving water-related problems during his speech on Monday, July 29.
In his speech to the Nation on Monday, on the occasion of the Throne Day, King Mohammed VI insisted on the continuous updating of the levers of the national water policy and the definition of a strategic objective, whatever the circumstances, to face the increase in water needs and constraints. This strategic objective consists of both guaranteeing drinking water to all citizens and covering at least 80% of irrigation needs throughout the national territory, the sovereign said, adding that it is “essential to complete the dam construction program, giving priority to projects scheduled in regions experiencing significant rainfall.”
