War between Morocco and the Polisario? Omar Hilale responds to Algeria

Omar Hilale, Morocco’s permanent representative to the UN, denied rumors spread by Algeria about an armed conflict between Morocco and the Polisario Front on the Moroccan border.

“There is no military war in the buffer zone, all there are are mercenaries and infiltrators who cause unrest then flee to Algeria,” Omar Hilale argued on Thursday. To support his statement, the Moroccan diplomat said that the Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, did not mention a possible conflict between Morocco and the Polisario in his report on the Sahara, presented Thursday before the session of the Security Council.
