Visas and expulsions: France could exert pressure on Morocco

The French Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, recently announced the government’s intention to ensure “expenditure control” of State Medical Aid (AME), intended for foreigners in an irregular situation.

We need “control of AME expenditure”, declared Michel Barnier in the Sunday newspaperadding that “the government and Parliament will take all measures to ensure that these do not progress further”. For the French Prime Minister, “it is important to ensure that the AME is never diverted from its goal, namely a public health tool”.
