Visa shatters dreams of Moroccan champions

Despite validating their tickets, Moroccan students were unable to participate in the 65th edition of the International Mathematical Olympiad, which took place in Bath, United Kingdom, from July 11 to 22, due to a lack of visas. Concerned, MP Khalid Sati of the National Union of Labor appealed to the Minister of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa.

In a written question, Khalid Sati asked Chakib Benmoussa about the reasons that prevented the participation of the Moroccan delegation in the 2024 Mathematical Olympiad. While the Moroccan students were selected to be part of the Moroccan national team to participate in the Olympiad, submitted their passports as well as those of their companions to obtain a travel visa, participated in the training camp organized for them in Benguerir before the scheduled date of their departure, set for July 14, 2024, from Casablanca to London, they were surprised to be prevented from participating in this great scientific mass for reasons beyond their control, and this, only one day before the start of the competitions, said the elected official.
