Val-d’Oise: a circumcision practitioner arrested for illegal practice
Hocine, 37, a “circumcision practitioner”, was arrested on May 14 at his home in Villiers-le-Bel (Val-d’Oise), then charged with illegal practice of medicine.
The circumciser was indicted by an investigating judge at the Pontoise court (Val-d’Oise) for performing circumcisions on two children aged 6 and 5, which led to complications. “It all started in March 2019. There were parents of a 6-year-old child who were worried about their son’s healing after the circumcision. They went to the emergency room at Rennes hospital, where the doctors considered that the number of stitches was insufficient. There were three. They estimated that six would have been needed, but there is no rule on the matter. And in the end, they left the scar as it was,” explains Nicolas Oudet, Hocine’s lawyer.
