Under pressure, a Moroccan university cancels the visit of an Israeli speaker

Faced with an unprecedented outcry, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) decided to cancel the conference by Israeli academician Michael Bronstein. This decision comes after several days of student protests.

The students expressed their strong opposition to the visit of Bronstein, whom they accused of supporting the Israeli occupation. In a statement, they denounced what they consider to be “total ignorance” of their positions. A petition signed by more than 1,300 students was also launched, calling for the severing of ties with Israeli academic institutions.
