Two Frenchmen arrested in Spain for kidnapping and torture of a Moroccan

Suspected of having kidnapped and tortured a Moroccan in Malaga, two French people were arrested and placed in provisional detention in Spain.

This is the result of an investigation that lasted several months. The two men, aged 39 and 43, were arrested in Spain and France, the Spanish police said in a statement, adding that they were indicted for kidnapping, torture and possession of weapons of war. These two Frenchmen allegedly held a Moroccan national captive for eleven days in April 2023 on a farm in Torrox, a village on the Costa del Sol – popular with international drug traffickers and regularly affected by settling of scores in recent years – to demand payment by his family of a ransom of 1.4 million euros. According to the police, “during his captivity, they cut off part of his ear”, “inflicted numerous blows” and “even deprived him of food”, limiting themselves to giving him water “on rare occasions”, before releasing him in an isolated place in the region.
