Trains in Morocco: five rail giants in the running for a mega-contract



The call for competition launched by the National Railways Office (ONCF) to acquire 168 new trains, including 18 high-speed trains, is whetting appetites. Five international railway manufacturers are battling to win this mega contract.


News for the ONCF call for tenders for the project to acquire multiple units. The application files for this international call for tenders for the acquisition of 168 trains, including 150 trains for inter-city services, fast and metropolitan shuttle trains, as well as 18 high-speed trains for the extensions of high-speed lines will be submitted to the Office on Tuesday. Five global railway giants are engaged in fierce competition for this mega-contract: the French Alstom, the Spanish Talgo, the South Korean Hyundai Rotem, the Basque railway manufacturer CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) and the Chinese giant CRRC.
