Towards a visa war between Morocco and Algeria?

Rabat has not yet reacted to the “immediate reestablishment” by Algiers of a visa regime for “all foreigners holding a Moroccan passport”. Algeria accuses Morocco of taking advantage of the visa exemption regime to deploy “Zionist intelligence agents (…) and freely access the national territory” to carry out “various actions detrimental” to its “stability”.

Towards a visa war? According to some observers, Morocco is unlikely to take a similar decision and impose a visa on Algerians, as the kingdom prepares to host continental and global events such as the 2025 Africa Cup and the 2030 World Cup. Algerian decision “seems, at first glance, to be a decision against Moroccans, but in reality, it is a devious decision intended to provoke a similar response from Morocco, so as to prevent Algerian citizens from entering Morocco and seeing the significant progress that embarrasses the thieves of the Mouradia presidency,” commented Amine Sossi Alaoui, expert in the field of propaganda.
