The tunnel under the Strait of Gibraltar: a dream soon to come true?
The titanic project to connect Spain and Morocco by a tunnel under the Strait of Gibraltar has resurfaced. Having remained on the shelf for a long time, it now seems to be taking a new turn with the launch of concrete studies.
Spain has just rented four seismometers, recalls Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. These devices, intended for the study of the seabed of the strait, will be made available to the Royal Institute and the Marine Observatory in San Fernando, near Cádiz, for a period of six months. This initiative demonstrates the Spanish government’s desire to advance this project, considered one of the greatest challenges in modern engineering.
