The TGV will arrive in Fez and pass through Meknes

Morocco is accelerating the development of high-speed trains. It plans to launch a call for tenders to select a specialized office to study the project of a high-speed train from Fez to Rabat via Meknes, the other city to host the training and residences of the teams participating in the 2030 World Cup.

Morocco is moving slowly but steadily towards providing modern, world-class transport facilities that meet FIFA standards for the transport of fans and delegations. It intends to build the new Fez-Rabat high-speed line and is preparing to launch a call for tenders to select a specialist firm that can study the project. With a total cost of 23 billion dirhams, this project will reduce the travel time from Fez to Rabat, via the city of Meknes, from three and a half hours to one hour and 40 minutes. It is planned to develop the current railway line, and to set up a new special railway line for a high-speed train, with the construction of several bridges in the province of Khemisset.
