Social media has become the ideal channel for spreading extreme discourse in Belgium. In recent years, Muslim influencers have invested TikTok, YouTube and Instagram and are followed by thousands of subscribers, reports Free. These influencers mostly hold very conservative discourses, reducing faith to a set of rules, practices and prohibitions. Others insist on respect for Sharia law.
