The paradoxes of Moroccan olive oil

Paradox in Morocco. While olive oil is becoming increasingly inaccessible for Moroccans due to its high price, exports of this highly prized product have soared in the first six months of the current year.

According to the Foreign Exchange Office, exports of crude and refined olive oil reached 8,498 tons between January and June 2024, compared to 4,859 tons during the same period of the previous year. Curiously, this product has become rare and very expensive on the Moroccan market, the daily notes The Economist.
