The mystery of the Moroccans who disappeared in Algeria persists

While Algeria continues to exceptionally open the Zouj Bghal land border post with Morocco for the repatriation of several Moroccans who were detained in Algerian prisons, many families of Moroccan detainees are crying out in distress.

“The family has no information about him since he left home; however, the large number of Moroccan emigrant candidates who end up in Algerian prisons led us to assume that he could be there as well,” he told HespressMQ’s brother, a young man from Oujda, whose family has been trying to track him down for over 7 months. He decided to go to Algeria with the aim of migrating to Europe via its coasts. On Thursday, Algerian authorities handed over 20 Moroccan detainees to their Moroccan counterparts through the Zouj Bghal border post, which was exceptionally open. A glimmer of hope for MQ’s family? “In recent days, the family has followed the release of several detainees and their handover to the Moroccan authorities, and we had hoped that he would be among them; but we were disappointed,” laments his brother. “If he is in prison, we don’t know how long he will stay there.”
