The Moroccan TGV, a success that inspires other railway projects
Morocco is establishing itself as the African leader in the railway sector. This is demonstrated by its great ambitions recorded in the Morocco 2040 Rail Plan developed by the National Railways Office (ONCF).
In an article published on August 1, Newsweek highlights the ambitious Plan Rail Maroc 2040. This is a medium- and long-term master plan for the development of the national rail network by 2040, which aims to connect major cities, modernize conventional rail services, and promote economic development across the country. The cornerstone of the 2040 plan is the extension of the Al Boraq high-speed line, which currently connects Tangier to Casablanca, recalls the American magazine, specifying that the opening of this 320 km line in 2018 made it possible to reduce the journey from five hours by conventional train to two hours by TGV.
