The Moroccan autonomy plan: “a French idea” according to Abdelmadjid Tebboune
In the eyes of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the autonomy plan “under Moroccan sovereignty” defended by Rabat is “a French idea, not a Moroccan one”.
In a “speech to the nation” delivered before both houses of Parliament on Sunday, December 29, the Algerian president affirmed that the autonomy plan presented by Morocco in 2007 for the Sahara is a “falsified” idea which “was born in France, during the time of President Jacques Chirac.” According to him, the plan leaves the Sahrawis the choice between “the bad and the worst”. “This land does not belong to you and its political process is not completed,” he added.
