The Mocro Maffia, a “political invention”?

The former head of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) and ex-president of the Tangier-Tetouan region, Ilyas Omari, recently claimed that the Mocro Maffia is a “construction of Dutch politicians.”

The Mocro Mafia is only a “construction of Dutch politicians,” Ilyas Omari declared to Thierry Oberlé, special correspondent of the Parisian weekly Le Point in Morocco to investigate this Moroccan mafia specializing in international drug trafficking and organized crime. The former president of the PAM added: “We cannot change overnight the mentalities or the economic reality of the Rif, a province where more than half of the GDP comes from informal circuits.”
