The epic Renault 12 and Peugeot 504, symbols of a return to the countryside

In an interview, Mohamed El Khatib, playwright and director, evokes the importance of old overloaded Renault 12 and Peugeot 504 cars used by thousands of North Africans, who returned to Morocco and Algeria during the holidays.

“These are two totally iconic vehicle models and they are two cars that carry stories. They are great story machines. It’s a kind of diversion, that is to say that I consider the automobile as part of our heritage, our industrial heritage. And as soon as we are interested in the people who were inside these cars, then it becomes an extremely moving heritage,” explains Mohamed El Khatib in an interview with Radio-France on the sidelines of the celebration of the 90th edition of the Mondial de l’Auto in Paris.
