TGV, motorway, port: Essaouira, a sacrificed city?

André Azoulay, sponsor and godfather of Essaouira, believes that the development of the city is lagging behind and that many challenges remain to be met.

Speaking on Tuesday during a Fireside Chat hosted by Mustapha Mellouk on the occasion of the “Essaouira Investors Day” event, Azoulay deplored the lack of interest shown by the government in the city of Essaouira, reports Media24. “Essaouira is landlocked, Essaouira has exceptional dynamics, but being landlocked is a challenge, it is a handicap,” he said. The advisor, who spoke as a citizen, challenged the Minister of Equipment and Water in these terms: “There is one thing I do not understand, the first highway that could have gone from Marrakech to Essaouira stops at Chichaoua, why? The inhabitants of Essaouira have the right to an explanation…”
