Tarifa-Tangier: electric ferries for MREs

Baleària won the contract on Friday for the construction of two electric ships with a capacity of 800 passengers, worth 135 million euros. These two ferries will provide the Tarifa-Tangier Ville connection.

The shipping company was awarded this contract following a call for tenders process. The construction of these two electric ships will last two and a half years, reports The avant-garde. “Baleària presented the most sustainable and technologically advanced project of the three that participated in the call for tenders,” declared its president, Adolfo Utor, considering that the award of this contract is good news for Spain and Morocco, but also for the shipping company which has served the Tarifa-Tangier Ville line for almost 20 years.
