Tangier authorities feared royal anger

Tangier authorities have been bending over backwards to clean up the city ahead of King Mohammed VI’s arrival Tuesday in his personal car from M’diq. The trip was apparently unplanned.

The main streets of the city have been cleared of rubbish, beggars and homeless people. Street vendors occupying public spaces have also been cleared before the arrival of King Mohammed VI, who had not planned to go to Tangier.
