Stray dogs massacred in Morocco in the name of football?

Network for animals (NFA), an animal protection organization, warns of the massacre of stray dogs in Morocco in the name of the co-organization of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.

Are the Moroccan authorities trying to please FIFA officials by getting rid of all the stray dogs on the streets and massacring them? According to witnesses, shots were fired, and dogs were injured or died. Those who do not succumb to the bullets are beaten to death with shovels by local authorities, reports Network for Animals (NFA) on its site. As for dogs that are not killed in the street, they are systematically rounded up and sent to overcrowded and underfunded municipal shelters, where they are regularly poisoned, reports the same source, adding that animals are crammed into cramped spaces, doused with water and electrocuted in these “shelters”.
