Spain strengthens surveillance of Moroccan borders
Spain will provide Morocco with advanced video surveillance systems, to help it better respond to current challenges linked to terrorism, smuggling and other forms of illicit cross-border activities.
Morocco and Spain are strengthening their bilateral cooperation in the areas of border security and the fight against illegal activities. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has approved the purchase of 20 video surveillance systems which will be supplied to Morocco at a cost of 4.12 million euros. Signed by Secretary of State for Security Rafael Pérez on October 20, this agreement aims to modernize Morocco’s surveillance tools. It follows an agreement reached by Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska in early August as part of international police cooperation protocols.
