Spain fears “an invasion” of Moroccans before the end of the year
Security at the land borders between Morocco and the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla has been reinforced in order to avoid attempts at infiltration and irregular immigration, which generally increase during the end-of-year holidays.
Several security measures have been taken by the Spanish and Moroccan authorities during this end-of-year holiday period. Among them, the deployment of additional security agents along the borders, strengthening of checkpoints and surveillance through the use of advanced technologies, such as thermal cameras and night sensors.
