Sofiane Bons: from a difficult childhood to young chef of the year

Rotterdam chef Sofiane Bons had a difficult childhood in the Paris region. Far from feeling sorry for his fate, he uses it as a lever to succeed in life.
“My way out became the kitchen, but that didn’t happen until my second year. The first year I started as a server. I was 14 years old then. My cousin from the Netherlands – my mother is Dutch – was working as a room manager at the Kurhaus in Scheveningen at the time and, thanks to her stories, I became enthusiastic,” Sofiane Bons said in an interview. Over time, he realizes that he was not cut out for this job. He is interested in cooking.
