Scam in Fez: a carpet sold to an American woman for 850,000 dirhams

An American tourist has filed a complaint for fraud and swindling against a tour guide and a bazaar owner in the old medina of Fez. The city’s judicial police brigade has opened an investigation to shed light on the case.

Investigators heard the complainant and the two accused on Friday, sources indicate. The investigation is continuing to shed light on this case. In her complaint addressed to the prosecutor’s office of the Fez court via the American diplomatic services in Rabat, the tourist explains that she bought a carpet for 800,000 dirhams in the bazaar owned by one of the accused.
