“Satanic rituals” case in Tangier: the accused acquitted
The Tangier Court of Appeal has acquitted all the accused in the “satanic rituals” case which sparked an outcry in Morocco. At first instance, two of the defendants were sentenced to five years in prison, while two women, including the complainant’s wife, were sentenced to two years and three months in prison respectively.
The Court of Appeal rendered its verdict on the basis of an expert medical report confirming the absence of evidence that the two children had suffered collective sexual assault and satanic rituals from the accused. The Court found that the accusations against the defendants were unfounded, suspecting the complainant of having other motivations.
