Samy Mmaee remembers Walid Regragui fondly

Samy Mmaee, who made his debut for Standard Liège in 2014, is preparing to play his first Champions League match with Dinamo Zagreb, leaders of the Croatian championship. The Moroccan defender has not been called up to the national team since Walid Regragui took over as head coach of the Atlas Lions.

After winning the Belgian Cup in 2016 with Standard, where he made his professional debut, Samy Mmaee was loaned to Maastricht in 2017. In 2018, he signed for three years with Sint-Truiden before joining Ferencváros TC in 2021, a club with which he won the championship and the Hungarian Cup in 2022. Today, the Moroccan defender is preparing to play in the Champions League with his new club, Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia. “Playing in the Champions League is obviously an accomplishment that I want to experience in my career. So it’s clear that the most important criterion in my choice for Zagreb was that. I knew there was only one round to go,” the 27-year-old told The Last Hour.
