Ryanair: Royal Air Maroc in the crosshairs
The third company to operate domestic flights in Morocco, the Irish low-cost company is thinking big. It is particularly interested in the Moroccan diaspora in Belgium.
The Irish airline now serves 12 Moroccan cities on 175 different routes and 1,100 flights each week in high season, with the ambition of dethroning the historic Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the national airline. It expects to carry five million passengers in Moroccan airports during this summer season, an expected growth of 33% compared to last year. Last week, the Irish low-cost inaugurated its fourth base in Tangier. It has already invested 1.3 billion euros in Morocco, mainly in the acquisition of new aircraft.
