Ryanair imposes restrictions on travellers
Faced with numerous problems, particularly in party destinations such as Agadir in Morocco, Ibiza in Spain and Berlin in Germany, the Irish low-cost Ryanair is imposing new restrictions on travellers.
Ryanair passengers will no longer be allowed to board with a bottle, even of water. “We used to allow them, without realising that they were actually full of vodka,” lamented Michael O’Leary, Wednesday during a press conference. The Ryanair boss announced that incivility caused by passengers under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is on a “significant increase”. “Alcohol is a recurring problem,” confirmed Léa*, a cabin manager for a French airline, to the Parisian. The “PAXI,” code name for “unruly passenger,” is a nightmare, she believes. To support her point, Léa says she faced a difficult situation during a flight to Morocco. A man had been drinking before boarding. “However, he seemed nice, so the ground staff let him through.” According to her account, just after takeoff, the passenger took a 1.5-liter bottle of whisky out of his bag. What ensued was “hell” that lasted three hours. “He refused to put it away, so we finally confiscated it and gave it back to him at the end,” sighs Léa. According to her, the passenger was disrespectful to the flight attendants, before calming down under pressure from his neighbors.
