Russian wheat imposes itself in Morocco and eclipses France
Morocco expects to receive a large quantity of wheat from Russia. The world’s leading exporter of soft wheat, Vladimir Putin’s country has dethroned France and has become the kingdom’s main supplier since August 2024.
Russia plans to deliver one million tonnes of soft wheat to Morocco during the 2024-2025 campaign, which began last June and will end in May 2025. “Our objective for this season is to supply around one million tonnes. In the future, we aim to reach an annual volume of 1.5 million tonnes,” said Eduard Zernin, president of the Union of Russian Grain Exporters and Producers (Rusgrain Union), in a statement relayed by the Russian agency specializing in agriculture APK-Informer. This is the result of the memorandum of understanding signed between the National Federation of Cereal and Legume Traders (FNCL) and Rusgrain Union on November 29 in Casablanca.
