Residence permit scam: a Moroccan woman defrauded

Spanish police arrested at the beginning of the week a man of Spanish origin, director of a firm specializing in processing the documentation of foreigners in the city of Melilla, for having defrauded a Moroccan woman to whom he promised to establish a residence permit in Spain.

The facts date back to November 2019. The Moroccan woman paid the businessman the sum of 5,000 euros to help her complete the necessary procedures to obtain a residence permit. But the respondent did not provide the service for which he was paid and refused, despite several reminders, to return the money. An attitude which pushed the Moroccan to finally file a complaint with the Melilla police headquarters on September 5, 2024, relays Melilla Lighthouse.
