Real estate scandal in Casablanca

While the Casablanca-Settat region is busy hosting the 2030 World Cup that Morocco will co-organize alongside Spain and Portugal, reports indicate suspicions of real estate speculation involving presidents of municipalities and intermediaries.

It all started from complaints filed by small real estate investors with Mohamed Mhidia, the wali of the Casablanca-Settat region. In their complaints, they accuse elected officials from the provinces of Berrchid, Mediouna and Nouacer of illegal real estate speculation. They worked together to appropriate land in subdivisions sometimes exceeding 120 hectares.
