Rare incident during Morocco-Spain match

An incident occurred during the semi-final match of the Paris Olympic Games between Morocco and Spain at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille, which ended in victory for the Spanish players (2-1).

On Monday, with the score level after 15 minutes at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille, the match between Morocco and Spain ended abruptly. A duel between Moroccan striker Abdessamas Ezzalzouli and Spaniard Marc Pubill brought down Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev. The match was interrupted so the referee could receive treatment on the pitch. Tantashev eventually went off injured and was replaced by Swedish fourth official Glenn Nyberg. He limped off the pitch.
