Racist tags targeting North Africans in Hyères (Var)
Racist tags targeting the Muslim community were found on the facades of several businesses and an association, as well as on sidewalks in neighborhoods of Hyères, in the Var department. Two complaints were filed.
These racist messages addressed to the Muslim community and written in black paint at the beginning of December on facades or sidewalks, are still visible in the city at the start of the year. A shopkeeper from Cours de Strasbourg found a racist tag on the sidewalk in front of his store on the first Monday of December. He immediately filed a complaint with the Hyères police station, reports Var-matin. The same day, another merchant said he discovered an identical message on the steps of his store.
