Rabat: Violent arrest during a road check, a police officer injured

A video posted on social networks relates an eventful police intervention in Rabat, involving a motorcycle officer and a two-wheeler driver. The scene, which shows an arrest that quickly degenerated, sparked strong reactions on social networks.

The Rabat police headquarters quickly reacted in a press release, indicating that a judicial investigation had been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The driver involved was taken into custody on suspicion of assaulting a police officer on duty, causing him injuries, including broken teeth. A second person is also involved in the investigation, suspected of complicity and illegal technical modifications to a vehicle.
