Rabat gets rid of its homeless and beggars

Rabat makes the fight against vagrancy and begging a priority. A campaign is underway in neighborhoods across the city, including secondary streets leading to Avenue Mohammed V and Rue Moulay Ismaïl.

Referring to instructions from services under the Ministry of the Interior in the city of Rabat, local authorities are supervising cleaning campaigns in several neighborhoods including the Hassan administrative district. These campaigns target in particular beggars, vagrants and the homeless, who concentrate in large numbers around administrations and public institutions. “These actions mainly aim to remove vagrants and homeless people from public spaces to avoid any damage to the image of the city of Rabat as the capital of the kingdom. These people are then welcomed in dedicated social centers, such as the Ain Aouda complex, the Hope complex and the social center located in the old medina,” specifies a source on condition of anonymity.
