Phosphate and cadmium: Morocco meets M6 accusations
The accusations that Moroccan phosphate fertilizers are “naturally very busy in cadmium” are false.
Does the French channel M6 seek to undermine the reputation of Moroccan phosphate? In the report entitled “Bread, fruits, vegetables: revelations on a new scandal”, the French chain accuses Moroccan phosphate fertilizers of containing too much cadmium, of being “naturally very loaded with cadmium”. Non -founded accusations, because all fertilizers exported by Morocco to the European market scrupulously respect the maximum cadmium content in phosphate fertilizers marketed in Europe set at 60 mg/kg of P2O5, according to European Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 entered into force in 2022.
