Paris 2024: Nawal Moutawakel harshly criticizes the performance of Moroccan athletes

Hassan Fekkak, technical director of the National Olympic Committee, has drawn the ire of some athletes and Moroccans after stating that “Morocco’s participation in Paris was better than in the Tokyo, London and Rio de Janeiro editions.”

On social media, former Olympic champion Nawal Moutawakel reacted to Fekkak’s remarks. “Thank God, we were among the top five in the world twenty years ago,” she wrote, expressing her frustration with the performance of Moroccan athletes at the Paris Olympics compared to previous editions.
