Orca attacks in northern Morocco? Experts respond

Videos showing orca attacks on holidaymakers off the coast of M’diq have been widely circulated on social media, and yet they are false.

Don’t panic!? Videos showing an orca in the waters of M’diq attacking swimmers and a voice warning them of the danger, widely shared on social networks, are false. Based on the explanations of marine wildlife specialists, Al-Akhbar assures that “it is the black dolphin that the inhabitants of the region know under the name of “negro” and which feeds mainly on sardines. The fishermen also complain about it regularly since it attacks their nets”. This species of dolphin is therefore harmless.
