Northern Morocco Abandoned by Tourists This Summer

In Morocco, there is a feeling of unease this summer in the tourism industry. The cities of the North, notably Tangier and Martil, are experiencing a drop in tourist numbers. Concerned, MP Salwa El Bardaï, from the Justice and Development parliamentary group, sent a written question to Fatima-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy.

In her question, the elected official asks the minister to reveal the reasons for this tourist stagnation in the cities and coasts of the north during the current summer season. According to Salwa El Bardaï, this tourist stagnation is the inevitable result of the decrease in the influx of thousands of Moroccan and foreign vacationers coming to spend their summer holidays and boost development and the economy in the cities of Tangier, Martil, M’diq, Al Hoceïma, among others, which had been used for decades to welcoming tourists from the beginning of the summer season, reaching its tourist peak at the beginning of July each year.
