Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline under threat?

Equatorial Guinea recently signed an agreement with Nigeria to build a gas pipeline linking the two countries. The announcement of this new partnership has raised questions about the future of gas pipeline projects between Nigeria and Morocco on the one hand, and Algeria on the other, intended to serve Europe.

The agreement was signed as part of a “regional cooperation” aimed at ensuring the reliability of supplies and securing flows for years to come, Oburu Ondo, Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons, told Offshore magazine. No details of the agreement were revealed and no date was given for the start of work on the pipeline that would allow Equatorial Guinea to supply itself with Nigerian gas.
