Muslim college in Nice wins its showdown with the prefecture
The Avicenne Muslim college in Nice has won its legal battle against the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture, which ordered its definitive closure last March.
Satisfaction for the association managing the Muslim college Avicenne in Nice. In a press release, it welcomes the decision of the administrative court of Nice which annulled the order of the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes of March 15, 2024 ordering the permanent closure of the establishment outside the contract. The public rapporteur considers the decision taken against the private college disproportionate “in view of the objectives of the law which are the prevention linked to risks of disturbances to public order, the health and safety of students”. The prefecture was again ordered to pay Avicenne €1,500 in legal costs.
